Northumbrian scholar Alcuin became Head Mesterand established St Peter's School as a major centreof learning in England

1350 AD

The population of York was decimatedby the Black Death, and the incumbentSchool Master fell victim to the diseaseOnly two dozen students surviveddur

St Peter's School moved after being given a RoyalCharter by Philip and Mary.

In 1838 AD

St Peter's School moved to its currentlocation a large campus of 47-acres atthe heart of York

In 1922 AD

The school built the first outdoorswimming pool of England
